2.4 Patch Notes Officially Released

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, the official 2.4 patch notes are now up.

Here's the new stuff that caught my attention at first glance:

  • Players will no longer require an attunement quest to enter Hyjal.
  • Players will no longer require an attunement quest to enter the Black Temple.
  • You may now fight Prince Kael’thas and Lady Vashj without first killing all the other bosses in their respective dungeons.
  • When both flags are held in Warsong Gulch, the flag carriers will receive 50% increased damage done to them after approximately 10 minutes and 100% increased damage after approximately 15 minutes.
  • Players that have the resurrection sickness debuff will be worth no honor.
  • Frostbite: When a frost spell is reflected back at a Mage, it is now possible for the Mage to suffer from the Frostbite effect.
  • Weapon Skill: Points will be gained faster in weapon skills for levels 1 through 59.
  • Three jewelcrafting recipes to cut gems with spell haste from Dawnstones, Talasite, and noble Topaz.
  • Herbalism: Increased the chance that Felweed, Dreaming Glory, Ragveil, and Flame Caps will contain a Fel Lotus.
  • Mining: Increased the skill up potential for most smelting recipes.

I'm unsure of my feelings towards no more hyjal/bt attunment. My guild is currently working on Vashj (got her to 22% the other night, so she'll be down soon) but we haven't started on Kael atall.

I don't really like skipping content like that, but I definitly want to see BT before the next expansion.

Assuming we don't get Vashj down before the patch, how would a group of 3/5 T5 players do against the first few hyjal bosses?

The first Hyjal (and to an extent BT) bosses are pretty easy. I've heard stories about raids killing Rage Winterchill with like 20 people before.

Yeah some fun stuff to come eh! Not forgetting the ability for warlocks to summon straight in to instance/raid :)

Boo to the no hyjal/bt attunement. Why would people bother with Kael and Vashj when they could move straight to easier bosses? A title? A ring? Bah.

It always kind of seemed like cheating to me when guilds would completely skip Magtheridon's Lair and go straight to Void Reaver and Lurker. Yeah, most guilds go back to Mag eventually but only after they've overgeared themselves for the encounter with the loot from easier bosses with better loot tables. What's to stop guilds from holding off on Vashj/Kael until they've thoroughly farmed Rage Winterchill, Najentus, Supremus, etc.?

Vashj down Sunday night!

That's 1/2 the attunment, my guild is putting a hard push on for Kael. We really don't want a free ride into hyjal

This is not the answer, simply because the flag can just be given to another player and then back to the original. It's a ploy to make us feel as though they are trying to fix the turtle matches.
