Yes, World of Warcraft, there are girls on the internets.

Scattershot

No, not the hunter talent, the post topic.

Right I've got a lot of half-completed posts and ideas floating around, but here are some of the short ones that come to mind immediately but aren't worthy of their very own posts:

  • Phaelia's started a new guide to spirit and mana regeneration in patch 2.4. It comes with a healthy dose of math, and promise of more to come. Now that all casters will be using the same formula for mana regen, this post is a must read for all theorycraft lovers who care about their blue bars.
  • I'm warming to Christian Belt over at WoW Insider. He's writing the latest incarnation of the mage column, Arcane Brilliance, where he gives off the air of someone who -- at last -- not only enjoys our class but knows how to play it in all its squishy variations. I still think the WoW Insider class columns spend way too much time on the 1-40 game, but it's a nice change of pace.
  • Apparently all kinds of people think Patch 2.4 will be out in the next two weeks. To which I say: bwahahaha. Ha. I mean, um: ohpleasenotyet, I haven't finished my guide to new dps caster gear.
  • Improved Alchemist Stones: about damn time! 54 spell hit rating is a ton of +hit; my spooky may have to respec to use it properly.
  • I just spent some of my new job money on Jonathan Coulton tickets for me and The Boy on March 22nd. Commence with the jealousy.

Jealousy commencing.

On the other hand, my spouse and I are going to see TMBG on the ... err ... 20th, I think? The tockets are on the fridge, but I'm too lazy to check right now. :>

re: Belt. What did you make of his "Scorch is the highest DPS spell" comment?

From what I've heard, they don't even have all of the Sunwell content open yet on the PTR. Unless they're planning on rolling the new stuff out bit by bit (2.4.1, 2.4.2, etc.), I don't see how they could possibly go live so soon.

But what do I know... I just play the game.

lilxs Heh, I just went back and read that. I guess he means on a per-spell, not per-minute basis? Or... no, he apparently means on a per-spell basis if you're specced deep arcane.

I actually like the idea of having commentators who play around with all kinds of weird builds for WI, but 1AB, 3 scorch is a damn weird spell cycle no matter how you slice it.

*sigh* If he's playing around on the PTRs, he's still a vast improvement, though.

I'm STILL annoyed that I had to skip the Coulton concert on account of flu.

I can't lie, I almost enjoy reading Arcane Brilliance. While he does tend to focus on 1-40 content fairly heavily (the most recent post on lowbie instances is a prime example), it's the kind of thing I almost wish I had read while leveling back in the day.

If WoWinsider didn't discuss the lower levels, who would?
